The actual abdominoplasty surgery takes a couple of hours. After a tummy tuck your doctor will expect you to remain in post-operative care for at least 24 hours so that you can be monitored for any complications. Despite being an elective surgery abdominoplastys are considered a big as open heart surgeries.

After a tummy tuck, make sure that you adhere to a strictly schedule of rest and recuperation. Let your management at office know in advance that you will not be able to attend work for a stipulated time. During the first week after a tummy tuck you can expect to be in pain and have your body swollen. However, your doctor will definitely prescribe some form of painkiller medication for you.

Also you will have to make peace with the fact that you will be restrained to staying on your bed for a few days post the surgery. After a tummy tuck, restrict your physical activity and take up walking as the only means of getting your blood flow back to normal. This will also help in preventing the formation of blood clots.

Once you are free from the bandages and you find your movement a bit more natural, your doctor will recommend a special form of underwear. After a tummy tuck, this underwear will help compress the abdominal area and this will help bring down the swelling. Be prepared to wear this for several weeks after the surgery.

After a tummy tuck, you may take several weeks to heal and during this time, it will be natural for you to feel fatigued. You may also find patches of numbness around your abdomen. All of this will pass with time. Plan your tummy tuck procedure well for you cannot immediately get into a bathing suit after a tummy tuck.

Had a tummy tuck and inner thigh lift on Sept. 13th. The first 48 hours were rough, just getting in and out of bed Using the toilet was difficult and found that a funnel was helpful for urination, as odd as that sounds. Also, I would suggest having anti-bacterial wipes on hand. After the first week, I began to feel better. The worst pain I felt during the first week was from the swelling. Having both a TT and inner thigh lift, I was wearing compression wraps around the thighs and abdomin, and the swelling in the mons area was tremendous. I couldn’t wear the “girdle” garments until the drains were removed (day 8). Once all the drains were removed, I could wear compression garments (like Spanx) but found the seams rubbed on my inner thighs, so gauze pads were required. Now I am on day 11, and the swelling in the mons area has gone down a lot, but there is still a lot of swelling around the scar areas that I am a little worried about. My doctor says the swelling is normal for several weeks post surgery so I am coping. I am happy with the contoured look I have. I lost 185 lbs over the last 4 years through healthy eating and exercise, so I am not used to seeing my body without the excess skin hanging over on my abdomin and inner thighs. Will post again in another week. I’m excited to see how the results are in the coming weeks.

    Hello All,
Well, I’m 12 days post op from Tummy Tuck and Liposuction of inner thighs, lower back and hips. The first words that came out of my mouth as soon as I came to after surgery was, “motha f—-!” I was in pain. Then I looked down at my abdomen and said, “I look absolutely fabulous!” The nurses cracked up. Thank goodness for marcaine pumps.

My Doc is marvelous. I definitely cannot do without my compression garment, love it. As for my swelling, it is going down everyday, in fact I just ordered a smaller garment through (Marena) cannot wait until it arrives. I have my good and bad days, I believe that’s expected, as long as the bad days become fewer and fewer. you’re making process. Good luck to all!

  3. Suzjoy says:

Yes, I was too in tremendous pain after surgery of my tummy tuck and inner thigh lipo. I am 12 days out today and its still a struggle. The road seems long to recovery and the days are long too since you are not able to do much of anything. I am still very swollen in my stomach and thighs and my mons too. The swelling makes me nervous but the docs keep saying its normal? Part of the struggle is the swelling is so bad that I am not able to really see any results yet. I was not too heavy pre surgery but had awful skin sag and diastase recti and a hernia all from childbirth. I want people to really make sure they know just how difficult and recovery is. I still would had done the surgery, with all my conditions knowing, but would have been better prepared to put my life on hold for a longer time. I can’t see really getting back to life for another month or so.

I had my tummy tuck 9 days ago. Other than the first day after surgery I have had no pain. I am sore but no “pain”. I am not taking pain medications. I just had my second drain removed today and was able to see myself standing up looking in the mirror.I am so excited and happy that I did the procedure.I actually have a belly button that is not in the middle of a stretch mark! The only difficult part that I have found is sleeping on the couch ( my dr wants my knees up and head at an incline so I have found this easier than 100 pillows on my bed). Good luck everyone!

I am on day 4 of my tummy tuck. Horrible fat from childhood that would never go, so I promised myself I would do it, and I have. But I must be odd! I have no pain. Walking like Quasemodo is putting a strain on the back muscles, but that is normal I believe. My tummy muscles are good be cause of singing training, but my age is well at the top of the list. And my drain feel out overnight, so have to wait and see what happens. (I know it might have to be drained with a needle. But for now, I went upstairs on day 2 and am waiting to drive. Why am I sharing this? Becauswe I think it is very important for us all to realise how we are all different, with differing pajn thresholds etc. I am hoping nothing will go wrong, but wanted to say that my first few days are pain free. some things are a little difficult, but that is expected. So gooa dluck to anyone who wants to treat themselves to a bit of improvement.

  6. Marion Stuart says:

Sorry, forgot to say that my op was done in Cyprus (Northern part of) which costs a quarter of U.K or USA prices, and where the surgeon is personally known to many. So he is fortunate to have inbuilt recommendations even though he does not really advertise But for those who live in large places, it is always a good idea to meet someone who has had the op you are thinking of. You need to assure yourself that you are doing the right thing for yourself..

I’m 15 days from my TT. Thanks god I NEVER have had
Any pain, ( I thing because of the best decision of my DR to use
Pain pump), the difference is amazing and I’m swelling
Yet, just I want to share this with all the people
Who wants a big positive change :) !!! Ft worth Texas

  8. Stella says:

I’m so glad you are all posting your feedback on here. I finally (after 10 years) am going in to get this done. I really didn’t want to do it for the reason only of the scar and the belly button change of appearance. I’m very tiny but have that bulge from the muscles separating. Any thought on if it is realistic that I can go back to my desk job 5 days later?

  9. Shona says:

@ Stella, I just underwent an abdominoplasty and lipo in my back and I am here to tell u that it would be impossible to go back to ur job in 5 days. I also have a desk job and was thinking the same thing. I have a high tolerance for pain and it has been 4 days for me and the pain is good but everything Is numb and I keep thinking that my sutures will rip. I definatly do not recommend that u do any strenuous movement for at least the 1st two weeks…Good luck with ur surgery! :)

  10. Rose says:

Hi Stella, not realistic at all. After 5 days you still have the drains, can not walk straight and you are still on pain medicine. You need at least 3 weeks. You waited so long…just wait a little more until you can take the time to do it and get better. Good luck to you.

  11. Rose 2 says:

I am scheduled to have my tummy tuck next week, after 5 kids and my tummy is looking nasty. It is certainally time.
I aslo only have a week off work. My boss doesn’t know what I am doing I don’t have any more time off.
Is there anything I can do to make is hurt less and heal faster.
    What should I expect.
    P.S. I am really nervous, I can’t sleep.

  12. CRenee says:

@ rose 2, a week is not enough. You will be more stressed out thinking about your lack of time. I’m now 6 weeks post op and have a desk job. My PS wanted me to go back in two, but I didn’t have enough strength and needed to practice again walking completely erect. Wait til you have more time or leave without pay. As I had to do cause I only had 2 weeks off accumulated and it just wasn’t enough

  13. Maggie says:

I am day 11 out of tummy tuck and I still am very cautious as to what little I do around the house. I have waited so long to have this and have invested so much money into it I don’t want to jeopardize anything going wrong. I had one drain and it was removed yesterday (didn’t really hurt) I have been wearing the compression garment right out of surgery so the swelling has been kept down. I pretty much have been sleeping in the recliner, so much easier than dealing with the pillows even after being released to being able to sleep flat I do better in the recliner than the bed. Just wanting to pass along that this is one time you can’t rush recovery (you have 8 wks for a c section) and you can’t do for anyone but yourself for at least 2 weeks!!

  14. Heather says:

I think everyone is different. Five days might be a little unrealistic but you should be fine with two weeks. I went back to work 10 days after surgery and am doing good. I still have one drain in but it is easy to hide under a sweatshirt. Of course I was very careful and took it easy the first week back. Last week (3 weeks post op) I had no problem working 8 hrs and felt fine.
I will say that I had very unrealistic expectations about the recovery…after two c-sections I thought I knew what to expect. I have to say that the c-sections were a walk in the park compared to tummy tuck! Regardless I have waited seven years to have this done and it is worth all the pain and I am very happy I did it!

  15. shannon says:

I am 1 week to the day of having the procedure done. I had the drains removed after 4 days and that was my worst day ever. Things are finally starting to feel better, I can walk upright, sit for much longer periods of time, and in general have discomfort, not outright pain. I am worried about driving, I have a desk job and can’t begin to think of going back to work yet. And I think I feel pretty good!! I really strongly suggest that anyone who is considering this go for the maximum amount of time off, even if you feel things have gone really smoothly for you. Why take that chance of messing something like this up? Please take your time.

Hi everyone! I am having my TT and breast aug in 1 day. I am so nervous I can’t sleep. I am so nervous as to what to expect afterwards. I am very active and hate sitting around doing nothing so I worry of depression. I lost a lit of weight and am very happy I have the ability to have this done but I am really scared. I live with my bf but will be staying with my mother for the first week or so. I read a lot of women have trouble sleeping and since I don’t have a recliner I am worried I won’t sleep! Any advice/ tips or words of encouragement? It would be nice to have someone to talk to during my recovery! Thanks!!

  17. Happy Mom says:

I am a mom of 3 and is 41. I am 12 days post op. I did my TT with liposuction in my abdomen, back, inner thigh and “love handles” and breast inplants. I did the surgeries in Bolivia. I live in Asia and I was able to take a 25 hour flight back home 10 days after such a big operation. I only took painkiller for one day post surgery, and after that I only felt sore around the abdomen, more like muscle pulling kind of sensation, but definitely not pain. I have been back to work for 2 days. I have a desk job. I only felt the muscle pull whenever I stand up after sitting for a long time, but able to walk around normally. I still cannot stand absolutely straight but so far no one noticed any difference in my posture.

I have been wearing the compression garment since I woke up from the sedation. The drainage tubes were taken out 4 days post op. I still have stitches and will get them taken out in a week. So far I am EXTREMELY happy with my results and highly recommend it.

  18. Shelley says:

    Lauren,
I just had a minimal TT w/breast lift & new implants. I had onld implants removed after 15 years. I am at 3 weeks out and finally starting to feel like myself. The stitches were removed after 10 days, but surgical tape remained in place, as did a drain from my stomach. My drain was removed a couple of days ago, but I had more fluid accumulate and had to have that removed with a needle yesterday. I didn’t have a problem sleeping, as long as I took my pain meds. I slept in my bed on my back the first few days, but started laying on my side after that. The only problem was worrying about the drain being pulled out, so I rolled over very carefully and kept drain tucked inside pajama bottoms. The surgical garment has been replaced with a garment I bought from Walmart, so I feel much more comfortable wearing it under my clothes. Things are progressing well at this point. Just don’t overdue anything after its done. I was back to work at my desk job after 10 days.

P.S. I wish you the best of luck Lauren!!

  19. rose2 says:

I was scheduled to have my tummy tuck 11/22 my friend went with me and told the nurse I took advil. I had taken tylonal at 5pm which was fine. But the doctor was being careful and didnt preform surgery.. i was so pissed..

  20. Courtney Garrison says:

I had my TT 12 days ago. I feel great. The worst part for me was the dealing with those drain tubes. The one on my skin around the right tube became irritated from movement. I had those taken out two days ago. I went back to work yesterday. I would say if you can stay off work, do it. It takes alot out of you walking around. I have a desk job too. But it hasn’t been unbarable to be at work. I would do this again in heartbeat. Lauren – Tips Keep up and moving. My doctor made me walk around a few hours after surgery and said i was not allowed to stay in bed. Keep a binder on at all times. It is really hard to sleep that first week. Just get tons of pillows. I am a side and stomach sleeper so sleeping on my back was misserable. You may try the couch.

  21. Janet says:

I am astonished. I am 10 days post surgery of a full tummy tuck and breast augmentation and it has been the most painful experience ever and I’ve had a caesarean section. The breast augmentation discomfort is manageable but the tummy tuck is a nightmare. No one expect one girl who said that she ‘couldn’t walk straight’ has mentioned the fact the you are completely hunched over, unable to straighten up as all of your abdominal skin has been yanked down in the front of your body by half. As My back was stuck in this hunched position for so long it started to hurt. I was in so much pain that I could only walk across a room before it became too painful. I was unable to get out of bed by myself the first and second day. Sleeping was almost impossible too in this hunched over position. I had to sleep sitting up but then all my body weight was just on my tailbone which hurt as well. I am learning techniques to deal with the muscle cramping, not being able to reach things or even want to go outside as I am so hunched over I am a good 4″ shorter than usual. My tummy tuck, regardless of how I look in a bikini in 6 months time, will remain one of my life’s regrets that I didn’t research it more or ask the right questions about the surgery and recovery before I decided to go ahead with the surgery. I don’t know when I will be able to stand straight again, but when I do, i won’t be taking my good health for granted anymore.

  22. Rose says:

Hi Janet. After reading your comments I had to write. I am Rose and you can read my notes above. I had TT 16 weeks ago. Please do not regret it yet. Give it some time. You need to strech a little everyday and while painful, the skin is a beautiful organ that will do what is supposed to do. I was desperate because I was hunched over too but I expected it. I was was completely straight after four weeks. The next problem is your tummy will be swollen for months and this will subside too. And lastly, your tummy will be numb for a long time. Mine is getting better now. Please take care of you scar and massage that tummy every night. Good luck.

  23. Gina says:

I am 2 weeks out from my tt. I had very little pain. I stopped taking my pain meds after the first week. I have a lot of swelling and my ab area is numb. My garment is too thight and very uncomfortable so I switched to a spanx type garment. I’m not sure if this is ok. I’m going to ask my doc on Thursday when I go in to have my stitches removed. I’m using ice packs but still swollen. I had a mini tt so I’m able to stand up straight. I had no idea the recovery was going to be so long. Any suggestions on dealing with swelling would be appreciated. I am still happy I did it. I’m sure the results will be well worth the recovery journey.

  24. Azera says:

Hi Everyone. I had my TT on Dec 16th. Dr Ambe in Newport Beach Ca did the surgery and WOW, he is a great surgeon. He has his own surgery center and works with the same great staff for years. He answers all questions and even gave me a hug before surgery. He has a wonderful after care nurse who picked me up from surgery, took my to her beautiful home and treated me like a princess. She put me in the most comfortable Lazy Boy ever in front of her xmas tree. She even lit the fireplace for me and took me outside to walk around and see the lights. She made a 5 star grilled cheese and a power breakfast for me in the morning. She then took me back to Dr Ambe’s office where my boyfriend picked me up and they made sure all was good to go. This is the 5th day after surgery and I have had no real pain. Just the pulling type, like I am afraid to stand up too straight as I wouldn’t want to tear anything. I went to the office on my 3rd day and they changed all my bandages for me and said I was doing great. I am going to the office tomorrow for another bandage change and am excited to see if there is a difference or if at least one of the drains can come out. It’s nice that they do all the work it makes it soo much less stressful. I do have to say hearing all of the horror stories just instills in me that I chose the correct doctor. Healing has been a breeze as we have a Tempur-Pedic king size bed with the adjustable sleep system plus massage. Having the amazing bed plus a walker has made this a breeze. I don’t see too much of a difference as I am swollen and still kind of weirded out by the surgery so I haven’t even taken a peak below the bandages. It will be a surprise and OOOO I love surprises :) . I am grateful and appreciative to have been able to get this done. I have been working out rigorously for the past 4 years, my body is strong and my legs are to die for but this huge belly just wasn’t going away. I didn’t have to have any Lipo or lifts anywhere so for that I am also grateful. I just can’t wait for another month or so when I can really see these results. My advice, go into this with no expectations and rent a hospital bed and a walker if need be. Weeee Hoooo! I would definitely go through this again. Good luck to everyone out there and if you are looking for a great Surgeon in Orange County, Dr Ambe is a sure bet..

  25. Amy says:

I had my surgery on Nov. 22nd. I had a complete TT, liposuction on knees, outer and inner thighs, flanks, and arms. I decided I might as well go for the breast augmentation too. My surgery last 8 hours. I probably should have been hospitalized the first night but it was painful. It was the next day when I went in for my checkup that it was discovered that because I suffer from celiac, my body was not absorbing the medication. He changed me to liquid Demerol and valium. I honestly don’t remember much for the next 5 days. Thankfully, my husband was able to be with me around the clock. The drains came out after 6 days. The majority of my back was in my back, probably due to the liposuction. I never had any pain with the breast augmentation. I will be 5 weeks post op tomorrow and I continue to wear my garments. It did take 4 weeks before I could walk up right again. My scar is already flat and turning white, my breast have all sensation, and my legs look fabulous. I worn a size 10 prior to my surgery but already wearing a 6 pants and actually fit in a size 4 skirt. I have lost a total of 16 pounds since my surgery. They tell me I will continue to get smaller as the swelling goes down. It does tend to swell in my back and pubic area. I guess it is from gravity of moving around all day.

I certainly don’t regret my decision but would recommend to those thinking about this procedure to rent a hospital bed for at least the first two weeks. I had to sleep in a recliner, which made it difficult to get up and down. I did sleep lot the first 5 days and took my medication on time. I am very pleased with the results. I am 48 years old but look 30 again. Good luck everyone!

Hi, I had a full tt and breast lift Dec. 19th. I’m so thankful for all the advice. I was on the verg of depression! Is anyone having sharp pain, like nerve pain, in the back of the legs?

  28. Jo-Ann says:

I had a full tummy tuck with lipo and a breast lift on Dec 7th. I slept on my big poofy chair with footrest with pillows around me for two weeks. I took my percocet on time all the time and had no pain, until I ran out and T3’s did nothing for the burning pain so I got more percocet. For the first two weeks if I walked too long, like went shopping, by the time I was done my legs were so swollen that I couldn’t bend my knees to get in the car. So I kept my legs elevated pretty much the whole time I wasn’t walking. I have a swollen pubic mound ( puffy cooter…lol) and my belly button is infected so I had two rounds of antibiotics. It’s finally drying up, more so on the right than on the left. My boobs look great, nipples are pointing forward instead of down and are a little sensitive like when you’re pregnant. Oh, I also have a dog ear at the end of my right incision which will get snipped off at a later date. I’m still in the same size clothes, they just look better because I don’t have this big floppy thing hanging down over my va-J-J. I would definitely do it again and I’m thinking about getting implants in the spring! I am also getting my tubes tied…I think 3 children are enough and I want to keep my new body in shape. I gained and lost 60pounds each pregnancy and breast fed all 3 to one year old. I totally deserve this, and although It’s so hard at first, it’s totally worth it. Happy healing everyone!

  29. Toya Marie says:

I just had lipoabdominoplasty (TT & lipo of hips) exactly 9 days ago, and boy did I underestimate the recovery from this surgery. The first day post-op I was under the care of a nurse, and pain free but extremely nausea and dizzy from general anesthesia. Once home I took all medication as instructed, so I never allowed any pain to form. The absolute most horrible discomfort during this whole recovery is my back, not being able to stand up straight and sleeping in a recliner. My lower back and tailbone is in pain, bruised and numb all at the same time. Sometimes ice relieves it a little. My drains were removed on day 6 and that was a weird feeling and just a little painful. I’ve had 2 post op visits with my surgeon who insists that I should be standing up straighter by now, although I find it extremely difficult, painful and frustrating. No pain meds at this point, scar is looking good. After sitting or sleeping I am in pain and really stiff. I’ve had a lymphatic massage which was relaxing and felt weird as my skin is numb and swollen. I am not in the business of complaining and would do it all over again, I’m just ready for this to be over, it sucks! If anyone has suggestions on different exercises or techniques on standing up straight, please post, I am desperate.

  30. Sandy says:

I am having a full TT in 4 days, Im scared and excited. After loosing and gaining weight over the years, 3 abdominal surgeries, and being very large during pregnancy I am finally ready for this to happen. Thank all of you for sharing and for your honesty. Will let you know how it goes. Also I am 54 in pretty good shape but I am concerned about my age, and if i will effect by recovery in anyway

  31. Brandi says:

Had my surgery on Dec. 28th in conjunction with a medical procedure and lipo to my back flanks and love handles. After five day I am down to one pain pill. The most pain is the tightness and swelling to my lower back area. The drainage tube is annoying and leaks by the base. Hopefully it will be able to come out soon. So far I feel like it was worth it. Feel like I look thinner all ready even though I am extremely swollen. Will need to get used to the new belly button and scar. After two tummy tucks I had a hug flap that hung over my vagina. I need to remind myself how ugly that was in comparison to being flat and firm with just a scare to hide under sexy panties. I used to dress to hid the flab.

  32. Ellen says:

Had my TT on Dec 13th. Had pain pumps and found the pain tolerable. Drains removed on day 6. Few problems since. First is that 3 time since removing the drains, I have had to have the surgeon put a needle into my stomach area to remove fluid that has built up again. They are now using that fluid to see if there is any infection. Not too worried about it though because the worst that will happen is I’ll need some antibiotics. Hoping the flu-ish symptoms and high fever I just got over wasn’t from any infection though. The second thing that is a problem is that today is 3 weeks and I’m still really hunched over and it hurts my lower back badly. Is there anything that anyone could recommend for me that might help me stand up straighter? Me and my back would be REALLY grateful! Thanks!

  33. Jessica says:

Had TT 2 days ago. Was wearing a compression garment, it is one piece shorts, crotchless that comes up to my breasts. Last night started having horrible gas pains and I could not pass the gas. Took milk of magnesia, I think it made it worse. My tummy got so hard and the garment was so tight I couldn’t breathe. I had to take it off. The gas pains were so bad, I practically slept on the toilet trying to push the air out. I finally made it back to my bed, laid on my side and was able to pass some air. Today, feel much better, still gassy and bloated. Afraid to put garment back on. Any advice?

  34. Jill says:

I had a full TT three weeks ago today and I too, underestimated my recovery time. I’ve had a C-section so I thought it would be about the same. Not so. TT was worse, but worth it. First week is a blur, took my Percocet as I should. My doctor recommended sleeping in a recliner for at least a week, I rented one from a furniture story – great move. Would recommend it highly. Easy to get in and out of, and it puts you at the ideal angle (feet up, head up, no pressure on the abs). My doctor also recommended taking 500-600 mg of Bromelain (a natural pineapple enzyme) for swelling and bruising before and after the surgery. Wow – those pills work! No bruising. I’m still swollen, so my surgeon says, but I think my tummy looks fantastic already. Definitely numb on my middle section, no biggie. He recommended Scar Guard, which I apply morning and night, to help with scarring. So far, so great! I took two weeks off from work, and I have a desk job. I still cannot stand completely straight, but I’m getting taller each day. I started wearing Spanx today, three weeks post-op. Much better than the surgical girdle (although the crotchless garment did have its advantages)! If you’re thinking about a tummy tuck, give yourself plenty of time to heal. And get some Bromelain at your natural food store. Good luck!

Today I am 2 weeks post-op.Since I am a previous gym-aholic, I was hoping my belly would be flatter, but Im quite swollen. I had a full TT , lipo to muffin top, flanks, inner thighs and back fat…Only needed pain meds for a few days, they just zonked me out. I think after day 5 I was just using tylenol. My pain today consists of my inner thighs, they are really sore. My abdomen and pubs are super swollen . Wearing both binders, the body garmet and the abdominal binder. My back is still sore from the bent over position. I take brief walks ( though its freezing out). today I started working out…upper body of course, it was exhausting. advise to those regarding work…I worked nearly80 hours a week for 8 months to prepare financially and have time available from work..take as much time as you can. I took 3 weeks and concerned that its not gonna be enough. Today Im gonna take a big trip to the shoprite. A fresh start requires a fresh mind , body and soul…. Sooo EAT RIGHT !!!

I’m 23 years old and down almost 150lbs. I’m getting a TT and inner thigh lift on February 21st and I am so scared. I’ve invested so much money into this and I’m afraid the results arent going to be what I am expecting, which isnt anything too far fetched – Just want the loose jiggle gone! I have requested 3 weeks off from work, and hoping I wont need to take the entire amount. I would love any advice from anyone who has had the TT and inner thigh lift!

I had my second abdominoplasty in a few years done this last Tuesday. Today is Sunday. I had two because my weight, fat loss, was so massive it couldn’t be done in one go.

I’m happy to say that I also experienced no pain at all. I took a single pain pill the first day and that was it. I did have some constipation but a laxative fixed that. A key thing was to drink a lot of water the day of the surgery and the next. I had liposuction combined with the lipoplasty. They dehydrate you quite badly.

I am thrilled with the result.

    Hi all,

It’s been 9 days since my tummy tuck, I have a few questions I would love somebody to reply to, you can get me on mw002a5649 @ yahoo. co. uk

First up sleeping on my back, the first few days were easy enough and I got one of those V shaped pillows, however I now can’t get to sleep at all, it’s currently 1:15 am and I’m normally well asleep by now, do I have to keep on my back or can I risk moving to my sides?

Pain. I’ve got this absolutely aching pain in my left thigh, a shooting pain where it feels like I’m being stabbed, at first the doctors though it was with my drain caught on a verve but they’ve been out 7 days now and I still get the pain, will this ever ease up in time? I’m seeing my doc in a few days so I’m bringing it up with him but I’d love to hear from somebody know has had the same problem!

Apart from that I’m very lucky it seems as I’ve had absolutely no pain whatsoever, I’ve got a lot of bruising and numbness which will never come back but that’s to be expected sometimes.

    Hope somebody can reply.

    Thanks,

    Micky, UK

I am considering getting a tummy tuck done. I am a little scared about the whole thing. I am 21 and have never had any children. And I want to have children in the future. I am scared that if I get the surgery done and then have children it could mess up the surgery and might be painful. Has anyone had the tummy tuck done and then got pregnant? If so did it hurt and did it ruin the surgery?

Hi, I am 6 days out of a tt,inner thigh lift and lipo to my flanks and inner thighs. The binder is the worst, my back hurts all the time and my mons area is swollen as well as my stomach. I am wondering if my stomach should be flatter and my scars look hideous. I go to the dr in 2 days. Hope all goes well.

I am a mother of 4 kids and my twins was the last of my kids and I have sagging skin at the lower stomach due to them streching my muscles out of place. My twins are 12 years old now and I been wanting to have the tummy tuck surgery every since I had them. I am getting a tummy tuck done in 2 and half months from now. I would like to know if a Zero Gravity Reclinable Chair with heat and massage will be good to sleep in. When will I be able to take a shower after surgery and what are the best cloth to wear home from surgery and what is the worst thing about the surgery? What foods should you eat after you get home? I read no soda and low soldium but what else is there that might be bad?

I am 60 years old. I have a large diastic recti separation…like 4-5 inches. I am 5′7″ and weigh 202 pounds. I am planning a full TT and arm lipo, but was told I could be back at work after a week (desk job.) Any advice for someone my age? I do exercise and I am in good health.

Hi all! I had my tt on Jan. 18th. It was a full tt with muscle repair and lipoprotein to the hips. First five days were brutal, but livable. I rented a reclining surgical chair and can’t imagine having done this without it. Put me on my feet with no straining. Both drains were out within eight days and pain meds stopped at the same time. I showered for the first time 72 hours after drains were moved as requested by my surgeon. I also moved to my bed as it was much more comfortable. I also had a breast lift with implants and in truth at first I didn’t even notice them as the tummy was so sore, but I’m feeling them now! I have a question for everyone. I am thrilled to have a belly button again and the stretch marks are gone, however, I feel like I am several inches wider across the hips than I was before. I do have swelling along the incision line. Does all of this flatten out? Anyone?

I had my full tt jan 9, and was wondering if those of you that said you had no pain, did you also have your abs tightened? I think that is what has been so painful for me. Sneezing or laughing has almost made me want to pass out!! I have always thought I was pretty pain tolerant and this has blind sided me. I can’t imagine it not being painful if you had the abs tightened? I’ll be 4 weeks soon and hopefully I will be standing up straight by then. I just now feel like I’m seeing the light… :)

I had a full TT and lipo done 31st January and so glad I’m not alone in my agony! Had my surgery done be a brilliant doctor with 5 star aftercare (www.maisonrue.co.za). I will say aftercare and your support system is the most important. Make sure that is in place. It is not a walk in the park, but I cannot wait for the end result! Good luck!

I had a tummy tuck, along with liposuction to tummy, upper abdomen, and flanks, and breast lift with implant replacement 12 days ago. The pain is gone, but the swelling and tightness have not yet, although both are diminished since about day 8. I am almost able to stand up straight and am still home resting and doing light household duties (dishes and straightening) and personal care.

I try not to look in the mirror too much, as I still look like the bride of Frankenstein. That said, I do realize after the healing, the results will be lovely.

My best advice is to make sure that your diet is geared for enabling your lymphatic system to be it’s best in order to promote an excellent recovery. It’s the lymphatic system that will reduce swelling and remove extra fluid. WITHOUT PROPER NUTRITION, YOUR BODY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HEAL AS WELL.

You must drink plenty of water (not fluids, WATER). I make fresh green juice daily (kale, spinach, parsley, cucumber, celery, green apple, lemon) and eat moderate proteins, along with limited whole grains and fresh fruit (pineapple, citrus, berries), coupled with yogurt and a little honey.

YOU CANNOT EAT JUNK AND EXPECT TO RECOVER WITH THE BEST RESULTS. You cannot drink sodas, eat starchy sugary carbs and expect your lymphatic system to do it’s job.

    BEST WISHES.

Hi everyone! I am a 38 yrs old and mother of three. I have been waiting to get a tummy tuck and lipo for the last 5 years and finally my day is coming in two days. All of my questions have been answered except one. I am getting the fat transfered to my bottom. No one talked about how to deal with tummy, lipo and fat transfer to the butt. I am guessing sleeping in a recliner may not work for me. I may not be able to sit on my bottom. The strange thing is I am so excited about the surgery I forgot to ask my dr. how that works. Any suggestions before Monday??

Hello everyone. I m 42 yrs old and just have full tt with lipo and and tighten of abdomen 3 was ago. I m just barely able to stand up straight today. Doing light duties around the house but I take lots of short walk. I take Motrin 400-800 mg daily as need for pain and keep and binder on until now. I keep my incision moist with bacitracin oilment 4 times daily and massage the area gently. Must not pull or lift for at least 6 wks or your incisions will stretch and cause keloids . Oh yes. I go to dr Wilson in Columbus ga, he is very nice . No drains. I do feel numb around belly button and lower. But the feeling will come back. Good luck every one
